Abacus are registered with the KBSA (Kitchen Bedroom Bathroom Specialist Association).
Each Member can offer Consumer Care Deposit Protection or Consumer Care Plus. Consumer Care protects the Clients deposit paid in the unlikely event that the member ceases to trade.
Consumer Care Plus not only protects the deposit as above, but also insures against the incompletion of the installation and a further 6 year warranty, again in the unlikely event that the member ceases to trade during or within the 6 year guarantee period.
To insure the deposits and other payments, each year the KBSA complete financial checks on the member to make sure the member is a financially sound.

To remain a KBSA member each year the KBSA select a number of completed installations from their members, a minimum of 20 are required from Abacus (10 for each showroom) and the KBSA then send a questionnaire to complete, covering everything from design to completion with regard to attitude, performance, quality, value for money etc.
The KBSA will also act as an ombudsman. In the unlikely event that a dispute occurs between the member and the client, the KBSA will act as an intermediary and the KBSA will make sure that the member acts to its recommendation.

The government have recently put in place a trade body to guarantee the qualification, quality and performance of companies and trades people to reduce the occurrence of poor workmanship and reliability of companies and people serving the general public (the cowboy element).
Companies and trades people that meet certain criteria as laid out are given Trust Mark status.
Abacus Kitchens have been given Trust Mark status and are registered and have certification for this scheme through the KBSA.
The cost of any fitted kitchen can run into many thousands of pounds. Therefore it cannot be stressed enough that anyone considering a new installation should use a company that is either a member of the KBSA or at least achieved Trust Mark Status.
